Former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore has announced the upcoming release of Memories in Rock II, a live album featuring recordings from his band Rainbow’s three UK shows last year.

The June 2017 Rainbow shows in London, Glasgow and Birmingham were a continuation of a Rainbow revival that Blackmore kickstarted in 2016, playing his first “all rock” concerts in two decades. (In the preceding years, Blackmore had focused on his medieval folk project Blackmore’s Night).

Memories in Rock II will feature Rainbow performing a set-list of songs from both Rainbow and Deep Purple’s catalogs, as well as a studio version of ‘Waiting for A Sign’ (the first new Rainbow song since 1996). In addition, the album, billed as “the most unique Rainbow package ever released”, will feature video that includes interviews with the band and behind-the-scenes footage.

Memories in Rock II releases on April 6, just in time for a set of European dates for Rainbow. The tour, which launches on April 8 will see Rainbow play Moscow, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Berlin and Prague.
